Social Security Disability and Benefits for your Children
Feb 26th, 2010 by admin
If you are disabled and unable to work because of a serious medical condition you may be considering filing for Social Security Disability benefits. If you have worked enough to be eligible for disability benefits, your minor child may also be eligible to receive dependent benefits under your work record. These benefits continue as long as you continue to be eligible and until your child reaches the age of 18, or until the age of 19 if the child is still in high school. These benefits are available to your child whether he or she is disabled or not. However, once your child becomes 18, he or she could be entitled to additional benefits as a disabled adult child. It is important to make sure that your dependents are listed on your social security application.
